Planning a wedding during Covid-19 and dealing with the unexpected
Due to the pandemic, many were forced to postpone their wedding plans. Along with the spread of the virus, their biggest fear was that they would be unable to fully enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime event.
Thanks to vaccines, the number of positive cases is steadily decreasing in Quebec! We have all the reasons to believe that it will be possible to plan a wedding during the second half of 2021. If there is one thing we are sure of, it’s that planning a wedding post-pandemic will sure be different. We will still need to work around public health restrictions.
What is it like to plan a wedding during a pandemic?
Are you curious to find out more about planning a wedding during a pandemic and all of the restrictions brought on by Covid-19? If so, we suggest you keep reading!
We had the chance to follow the planning of a wedding organized by Évènement Touch Event, a 4-celebration.com service partner. 4-celebration.com is the platform to visit if you’re looking to plan a celebration without the headache!
The pandemic forced them to change their plans
Originally, this couple’s dream wedding venue would have been in a warm, southern location. They felt this option forced them to delay their union too much. In March 2021, they decided to change their plans!
Using the huge land surrounding the family chalet will turn out to be better than a dream! They’ve decided that it was the best place to celebrate their union in September 2021! Their whole family was very excited about this news! After a year of social distancing, it will finally be possible for them to safely gather and celebrate the union of two of their loved ones.
A wedding under a tent
Gazebo weddings are popular this year. The spacious family land is the perfect setting to install a tent. There will be a designated area for the ceremony, and another for the cocktail reception.
The choice of caterers
Le Râtelier Méchoui et Traiteur, another of 4celebrations.com service’s partners will have the honour of satisfying even the finest palates! The couple was very pleased by the menu presented to them, and by the customer service offered by this excellent caterer. Indeed, Le Râtelier Méchoui et Traiteur offers a unique experience, collaborating with a local carpenter to offer magnificent diner tables crafted with barn wood. They also provide quality cutlery, a mixology service and dessert platters.
Le Râtelier Méchoui et Traiteur’s takeout menu has allowed them to keep renewing their cuisine, despite the pandemic. This strategy also enabled them to keep practically all of their staff! This makes them one of the food industry’s few businesses with enough employees to offer adapted services that do not compromise customer experience, regardless of the health restrictions in place. Le Râtelier Méchoui et Traiteur can therefore treat your guests to table service instead of offering only buffets.
They’ve made 2 different guest lists
In the event that social distancing measures are still in place, the future bride and groom have already composed a list of 50 guests. However, if the situation surrounding Covid-19 evolves and allows for an unrestricted event, they will happily welcome the 110 guests that had originally been of their guest list.
Invitations are set to be sent out a month before the wedding date. Meanwhile, the couple made sure that all guests featured on the original guest list were informed of their plan if restrictions on public gatherings are still in place.
Partners and suppliers
By mid-June 2021, they will have made a virtual or presential visit of all the partners and suppliers that were proposed by the renowned Marie-Andrée Touchette from Événements Touch Events.
Confirmations from the baker, sound technicians, florist, as well as makeup artist and hair stylists will be under contract in order to ensure a memorable September night celebration!
Planning a wedding: before and after Covid-19
Everyone must adapt in order to meet and respect the constantly evolving health measures and restrictions. Suppliers, partners, future newlyweds and guests have to be flexible to ensure the success of this event.
Planning a last-minute wedding
Before Covid-19, it was very rare to receive wedding organization requests less than 9 months before the special day.
These days, we can plan everything in only one month! If you want to celebrate your union soon, you should jump aboard. The 2022–2023 calendar is already filling up quick!
Outdoor wedding venues
This summer, almost every wedding planned will be taking place outside, more specifically on private properties!
Some congress centres and hotel complexes are authorizing reservation cancellations because of the reality of the pandemic. Customers’ first choice seems to increasingly revert to private properties!
Conclusion
As we followed the preparation of this beautiful event, it became increasingly clear to us that the current context has taught us a valuable lesson: resiliency is key. Customers, guests, partners and suppliers keep adapting to changing realities by innovating and staying optimistic so that everyone can keep enjoying life’s small pleasures no matter what!
Many have successfully adapted their wedding plans to create an event that will suit them! We’re sure that everyone will keep a fond memory of this event—which will probably be their first social gathering following the pandemic!
