Between traditions and new inspirations, there are many ways to enjoy the Easter weekend!

While young and old alike are enjoying a long vacation, we jump at the chance to organize activities that take us out of the routine.

Check out our ideas to make your Easter vacation more fun!

Special outings during the Easter vacation

The weather is getting milder and life seems to be reborn with spring. It makes you want to get out! The Easter long weekend is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a getaway!

If you want to spice up your outing, check out the packages offered by SW Limousine! Luxury isn’t just for weddings!

The sugar shack

Easter means homemade ketchup, ears of crisse, pea soup... and the highlight of the day: all-you-can-eat taffy on snow! As you may have guessed, we are talking about this timeless Quebec classic, a sugar shack outing with family or friends.

Every self-respecting Quebecer must go to the sugar shack at least once a year, and the Easter vacation is the ideal opportunity.

Not only will you be able to have a good time, but you will also be able to encourage local entrepreneurs for whom the last few years have been particularly difficult.

Outdoor activities, here or elsewhere

The sun is shining, the birds are singing and you are (finally) starting to see some grass in your neighbor's yard. The arrival of spring makes us feel reborn. We all want to stretch our legs and get some fresh air.

The long weekend is the perfect opportunity to organize outdoor outings, close to home or elsewhere in Quebec. We pack our bags and leave for a getaway in Charlevoix or a ski weekend in Tremblant.

If the weather permits, why not plan an outdoor coconut hunt?

Activities at home

Prefer to stay at home? It is still possible to organize special activities that will please both children and adults.

We organize a big brunch

With the easing of health measures, there is every reason to celebrate and get together with family and friends. Easter is another opportunity to get together with loved ones who you may not have been able to see as much of over the past year. So, why not take advantage of this opportunity to organize a real nice brunch with family and friends?

We're going all out by setting a beautiful table decorated with fresh tulips.

When you say family reunion, you also say a lot of preparations. Why not outsource the meal to a catering service? Instead of wasting the morning running around making sure no one misses anything, you can spend some quality time with your people.

Our partner, Le Ratelier, offers customized catering and delivery services, whether for Easter or any other event!

Treat yourself to something sweet at home

The desire to enjoy a good meal from a sugar shack speaks to you, but you were rather planning to take advantage of the long weekend to relax and rest? More and more companies are now offering take-out box lunches.

Warning! You'll need to make reservations in advance if you want to have a sweet tooth at home. Most of the time, reservations must be made 24 to 48 hours in advance.

The inevitable coconut hunt

This classic will certainly please the little ones, but why not reinvent it and add a little spice for the older ones?

All it takes is a little creativity and everyone will want to participate. Break up into teams and turn the coconut hunt into a real treasure hunt. Add a few riddles in addition to the usual chocolates, and you're done! The team that finds the most cookies wins a prize.

Kill two birds with one stone by supporting a local business when you buy your chocolates and prizes! A gift box of handmade soap or a Crafty Cocktails recipe kit will take your guests’ competitive spirit to the next level!

Celebrating Easter in a different way

What if we were inspired by traditions from elsewhere to celebrate Easter differently this year?

Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing!

In Germany

In Germany, an "Easter fire" (osterfeuer) is lit and the whole family gathers around it. Some communities even hold large parties with booths and fairground attractions.

In addition, the arrival of spring is celebrated by hanging decorated eggs on a tree to create an Easter tree (Ostereierbaum).

Take a cue from the Germans, and have a good time around a campfire at sunset... after decorating your Easter tree, of course.

In Finland and Sweden

For Easter, children dress up and go door to door to receive chocolates. The day before, they will have made drawings and paintings to give away in exchange for these sweet treats.

In Bermuda

It's warm, it's sunny and the beach is nearby. Why not gather there to celebrate Easter?

In Bermuda, on Easter Day, people put on sandals and head to the beach to fly their homemade kites. Some are so big that it takes several people to carry them. We go to the "Kite Festival", and compete for a place in the kite competition. There is a prize for the most beautiful, the biggest and the smallest.

Afterwards, we will enjoy fish-codfish patties served on hot cross buns.
